Amazon SP24NE Tablet Reaches FCC With 6 GHz Wi-Fi and Wireless Charging
A new FCC grant identifies Amazon tablet model SP24NE and confirms 6 GHz Wi-Fi and wireless power support, while import records point to unusually high memory and storage configurations.
Amazon has received Federal Communications Commission approval for another unannounced tablet, and this model appears to sit above the two devices that reached the regulator in August.
The new filing was granted on September 2, 2026 under FCC ID 2A4DH-2945. Amazon describes the product only as a Digital Media Device, but its public electronic label identifies the internal model as SP24NE.
That code also appears in public customs records for Amazon tablet development units. Recent reporting links it to configurations with as much as 16 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage. The FCC documents add two important details that were not available from those shipping records. SP24NE supports Wi-Fi in the 6 GHz band and has a wireless power system tested across multiple battery levels.
The evidence points to a higher-end Fire tablet, but Amazon has not announced its retail name. It is too early to call SP24NE a second-generation Fire Max 11 or assume that every development configuration will reach stores.
The FCC filing confirms the SP24NE model
The September 2 grant covers original equipment rather than a modification to an existing Amazon authorization. Its public records include approvals for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands.
The model code is not an inference from a document filename. Amazon’s electronic label shows SP24NE beside FCC ID 2A4DH-2945. The label instructions also describe opening Settings, choosing Amazon, and selecting Regulatory Information on the device. That path is consistent with a product that has its own screen and operating system.
Customs data provides the stronger product-family connection. SP24NE was previously listed as an Amazon tablet, while the same records exposed processor, memory, and storage details for development units. The FCC label now connects that tablet code to a newly approved Amazon device without relying on its radio configuration alone.
6 GHz Wi-Fi would move beyond the current Fire Max 11
The FCC grants show that SP24NE can use the 6 GHz Wi-Fi band as a low-power indoor client. The 5 GHz test material also lists support for channel widths up to 160 MHz.
Amazon’s published specifications for the 2023 Fire Max 11 list Wi-Fi 6 on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The current Fire HD 10 and Fire HD 8 use dual-band Wi-Fi without a 6 GHz connection. If SP24NE reaches stores with the capability shown in its filing, it would extend Amazon’s tablet range into a newer wireless band.
The presence of 6 GHz support does not establish the tablet’s retail Wi-Fi name, maximum real-world speed, or antenna layout. It also does not guarantee that customers will see a meaningful improvement on every network. A compatible router and suitable range are required to use the additional band.
The durable conclusion is narrower. Amazon has certified SP24NE for 6 GHz operation, while its currently documented Fire tablets stop at 5 GHz.
Wireless power testing points to built-in charging support
A separate public test report identifies the same SP24NE model and documents wireless power transfer between 110 kHz and 165 kHz through a coil antenna.
The regulator did not test only one ideal charging state. Its configuration includes operation with the tablet battery below 10 percent, between 40 and 60 percent, and above 90 percent. The connection diagram places a wireless accessory between the power source and SP24NE, while the device operates as the equipment under test.
Those details are direct evidence that the tablet can receive power wirelessly. They do not reveal the charging rate, the shape of the accessory, whether it will be included, or whether Amazon will market the system under the Qi name. The public report also does not show if the charger doubles as a stand or dock.
Wireless charging would not be completely new to the Fire tablet family. Amazon offered it on the 2022 Fire HD 8 Plus with an optional dock. The feature is still notable on SP24NE because the current Fire Max 11 relies on USB-C charging, and the new filing combines wireless power with much higher reported memory and storage capacities.
Import records point to an unusually high-end tablet
Notebookcheck reported on September 1 that SP24NE appears in import records with two configurations. One lists 16 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage. Another lists 8 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage. Both identify a MediaTek MT8793 processor.
For comparison, Amazon lists the current Fire Max 11 with 4 GB of memory and either 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage. A 16 GB and 256 GB SP24NE would therefore have four times the memory and twice the maximum internal storage of Amazon’s current flagship tablet.
That comparison describes the development hardware, not a finished retail product. Import records can cover engineering samples, test builds, regional variants, or configurations that a manufacturer never sells. Amazon could launch different memory and storage combinations, and the FCC filing does not confirm any of those capacities.
The processor details need similar caution. MediaTek has not provided a public SP24NE specification, and the FCC records do not identify its CPU, GPU, memory type, or storage interface. The customs data is useful supporting evidence, but it should not be treated as a complete product sheet.

FTVDB previously covered Amazon models RL3YT5 and TR24E7. Their FCC grants arrived on August 24 and August 28, and matching customs records listed both with a MediaTek MT8189 processor.
SP24NE is a third internal model with a separate September 2 authorization. It also stands apart in the available details. The earlier development units were listed with up to 8 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage. SP24NE reaches 16 GB and 256 GB in the reported customs configurations, and its new FCC record exposes 6 GHz Wi-Fi and wireless power testing.
That does not prove Amazon plans three retail tablet names. The codes could represent different sizes, performance tiers, regional models, or hardware that will not launch together. They are best treated as three unannounced Amazon tablet projects until retail pages or developer documentation provide final identities.
The retail name and release plans remain unknown
Some reports have suggested that one of the new devices could succeed the Fire Max 11, which launched in 2023. SP24NE’s memory ceiling, storage capacity, newer wireless support, and charging hardware make it a plausible higher-end model. None of those clues proves its retail name.
The public FCC material does not show the screen size, resolution, enclosure, cameras, battery capacity, ports, stylus support, keyboard support, price, operating system, or release countries. Amazon has kept the external photos and user manual confidential until March 1, 2027 under the current filing schedule.
That confidentiality date is not a launch date. Amazon can announce the tablet before then, request a schedule change, or delay the hardware. The most useful next evidence will be an Amazon product page, developer device specification, support document, or firmware record that connects SP24NE to a consumer-facing name.
For now, the confirmed story is substantial without the speculation. SP24NE is an unannounced Amazon tablet tied to a fresh FCC grant, it supports 6 GHz Wi-Fi and wireless charging, and its reported development configurations reach well beyond the memory and storage offered in today’s Fire Max 11.
