FCC Filings Point to Two New Amazon Fire Tablets, Including an 8 GB Model

New FCC grants and matching customs records point to two unannounced Amazon tablets with newer MediaTek processors and up to 8 GB of memory.

Two unannounced Amazon tablets have appeared in new Federal Communications Commission records.

The first device received FCC approval on August 24 under FCC ID 2A4DH-5377. The second followed on August 28 under FCC ID 2A4DH-2426. Amazon describes both only as a Digital Media Device, but filenames attached to the filings expose the internal model codes RL3YT5 and TR24E7.

Those model codes also appear in public customs records that describe them explicitly as Amazon tablets. The records list a newer MediaTek MT8189 processor in both devices, with 4 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage for RL3YT5 and 8 GB of memory with 64 GB of storage for TR24E7.

The evidence points to a Fire tablet refresh, but it does not reveal the retail names. It is too early to call either device a new Fire HD 10 or Fire Max model.

Two Amazon tablet models are now tied to FCC grants

The FCC records and customs entries line up around the same two internal model codes.

Amazon is the named applicant on both FCC grants. Each application describes original equipment rather than a change to an existing authorization. The confidential user manual filenames contain the same model codes found in the customs data, which makes the connection much stronger than a filing that exposes only a generic remote or accessory.

The RL3YT5 filing includes approvals for Bluetooth and both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands. The public portion of the TR24E7 record shows Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi approvals. Other radio details could still be covered by additional filings or confidential material, so the records should not be used to define either tablet’s complete wireless specification.

Customs records connect the model codes to tablets

The supporting customs records predate the FCC grants, but they provide the clearest public description of the hardware.

An April 28 entry identifies RL3YT5 as an Amazon-branded tablet with 4 GB of memory, 128 GB of storage, and a MediaTek MT8189 processor. A June 5 entry identifies TR24E7 as an Amazon tablet with the same processor, 8 GB of memory, and 64 GB of storage.

These were development or supply-chain units rather than retail listings. The listed memory and storage combinations may therefore represent test configurations, regional variants, or only part of a future product range. Amazon could sell different capacities when the devices are announced.

The important link is the model code. A customs description and a newly approved Amazon FCC device use the same identifier in each case. That provides direct evidence that both filings belong to tablet hardware without requiring a guess based only on radio frequencies or enclosure size.

An 8 GB model would raise the Fire tablet ceiling

Amazon’s current Fire Max 11 has 4 GB of memory. The current Fire HD 10 has 3 GB, while the latest Fire HD 8 is available with 3 GB or 4 GB depending on the configuration.

If the TR24E7 development configuration reaches stores with 8 GB, it would double the memory in the Fire Max 11 and become the largest confirmed memory allocation in an Amazon Fire tablet. More memory can help with app switching, larger games, browser tabs, and productivity work, although the operating system and software tuning will still shape the actual experience.

RL3YT5 does not show the same memory increase. Its listed 4 GB matches the current Fire Max 11, but its 128 GB of storage is at the top end of the current model’s range. That difference is one reason not to assume that the two codes are simply storage variants of the same tablet.

Screen size, resolution, battery capacity, ports, expandable storage, and accessory support remain unknown. The records also do not say whether either device includes a keyboard or stylus option.

MediaTek MT8189 is a newer computing platform

MediaTek markets MT8189 as the Kompanio 540. It uses an eight-core CPU with two Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores running up to 2.6 GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running up to 2.0 GHz. Graphics come from an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.

The current Fire Max 11 uses the older MT8188J with two Cortex-A78 cores running up to 2.2 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, and Mali-G57 MC2 graphics. The new chip therefore has a higher peak speed for its two performance cores on paper.

MediaTek says Kompanio 540 supports LPDDR5 memory, UFS 3.1 storage, high-resolution displays, and 4K video decoding. Support inside the processor does not prove that Amazon will enable every capability. The customs records identify the processor, memory amount, and storage capacity, but not the memory generation or storage interface used by the tablets.

No public benchmark for either Amazon device is available. A newer processor and more memory make the hardware direction notable, but they do not establish how fast a finished Fire tablet will feel.

The retail names and release date remain unknown

Amazon has not announced either model. The public records do not provide a product name, screen size, price, color range, release market, or operating system version.

The internal and external photos are being kept confidential. The RL3YT5 filing lists February 20, 2027 for the availability of its user manual and photos, while TR24E7 lists February 10. Those dates mark the end of short-term confidentiality in the records. They are not confirmed launch dates, and Amazon could announce or release the hardware earlier.

It is also not safe to infer the software branch. Current Fire tablets use Android-based Fire OS, but the filings contain no public operating system details. Firmware build names and Amazon’s developer device tables will provide a clearer answer once the company publishes the retail models.

Why these filings matter

Amazon’s current larger Fire tablets date to 2023. Fire HD 10 and Fire Max 11 both use that model year, while Fire HD 8 received a refresh in 2024. Two new FCC approvals now provide the clearest recent evidence that more tablet hardware is moving toward release.

The TR24E7 memory figure is the most visible upgrade, but the processor change matters across both devices. A newer platform could improve responsiveness and extend the useful life of future Fire tablets even if Amazon keeps its familiar focus on affordable entertainment hardware.

There are still enough unknowns to avoid buying advice or direct model comparisons. The durable news is narrower. Two Amazon tablet model codes now have fresh FCC approvals, both are tied to newer MediaTek hardware, and one development configuration carries 8 GB of memory.

For FTVDB, the next useful evidence will be Amazon’s retail names, build models, initial Fire OS versions, and firmware packages. Until those appear, RL3YT5 and TR24E7 are best treated as confirmed unannounced Amazon tablets rather than named products.
