Respecting Contributor Requests
FTVDB depends on community-donated links, but credits are optional, anonymity is respected, and contributors can ask for their captured URLs to be excluded.
FTVDB is a community-donated database.
People submit firmware and app URLs because they want the database to stay useful for everyone. That support is one of the reasons the project keeps growing, and I am genuinely grateful for it.
Recently I added a Credits section for people who want recognition for the links they personally captured. At the same time, most contributors prefer to stay anonymous, and that choice is fully respected. FTVDB is meant to be a place where people can submit links whether they want public credit or not.
Credits are optional
The Credits page is there for contributors who want their work acknowledged. It is not a requirement for submitting links, and it is not a condition for helping the project.
Many people are happy to donate URLs quietly. That is perfectly fine. I care much more about respecting contributors than about attaching names to records.
Opt-out requests are respected
If the original capturer of a URL does not want it included in FTVDB, I will accept an opt-out request sent to [email protected].
I may ask for proof that the requester was the person who collected those URLs first. That matters because I do not want someone else removing records they did not capture.
When matching URLs may still be accepted
I will still accept matching URLs in the following cases:
If someone can provide proof that the URL was captured by someone else.
If someone else captured the URL earlier.
If the original capturer later grants permission for those URLs to be included.
The same policy applies in similar cases
If someone else copies links that were captured by another person without that person’s permission, I will handle it the same way if the original capturer asks me to.
If you reached this page instead of a firmware or app URL
If you reached this page through a link instead of a firmware or app URL, it means the original capturer asked for that link to be removed from FTVDB.
You may still be able to find that URL through a search engine by searching for the device or app name and version and looking for where it is hosted by the capturer.
If the original capturer ever gives permission for those links to appear here, the database will be updated.
Want credit for your links?
If your links are already included in FTVDB and you want your name or profile link added to the Credits section, send a request to [email protected].
Respect matters more than any single record
FTVDB exists because people trust it enough to share what they find.
That trust matters more than keeping any individual link in the database. If someone wants their own captured URLs excluded, I will respect that.
