Amazon Adds Luna Games to Prime Video on Fire TV

Amazon is putting cloud games next to movies, shows, and sports inside the Prime Video app on Fire TV.

The rollout started on July 23, 2026 for Prime members in the US and UK. A new Games tab lets eligible users find and launch Amazon Luna titles without first opening a separate gaming app.

This is not a new Fire TV device or operating system. It is a device-service change that makes gaming a more visible part of the Fire TV experience.

Luna now appears inside Prime Video

Amazon Luna streams games from the cloud instead of downloading and running them locally on the Fire TV device.

Prime members can open the Prime Video app, select the new Games tab, choose an included title, and begin playing on the television. Amazon says there is no additional download or purchase required to start playing games included with Prime.

Players can use a compatible controller or a phone. That second option is especially important for Amazon’s GameNight titles, which are designed for friends and family to join with phones instead of requiring a collection of dedicated game controllers.

Amazon names several games in the current Prime library, including Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Clue, Ticket to Ride, and Taboo. The company says it plans to add games every month.

Game availability can still change over time. The useful part of the announcement is not one individual title. It is that Luna now has a permanent discovery surface inside one of Fire TV’s most frequently used apps.

Prime access and Luna Premium are different

The new Games tab does not make every Luna title free.

Amazon says a Luna library is included with Prime at no additional cost. TechRadar reports that customers who want the broader Luna Premium catalog can still subscribe separately.

That distinction matters because the Prime Video integration is primarily a new way to discover and launch the games already included with a Prime membership. It does not remove Luna’s separate paid tier or turn Prime Video into a store for every game available through the service.

According to 9to5Google, Amazon is also keeping the dedicated Luna app. The Prime Video tab gives Prime members a more visible entry point, while the existing app remains part of the wider Luna experience.

Why the Fire TV placement matters

Luna has already been available on Fire TV, but a separate app is easy to overlook if someone does not already know the service exists.

Prime Video is different. It is a familiar destination for movies, television, and live sports. Placing games alongside that content lowers the discovery barrier. A Prime member can move from watching something to playing a related game without leaving the app or downloading a large local installation.

Amazon gives Masters of the Universe as an example. Prime Video carries the film, while Luna offers Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite, a cooperative game for up to four players. Amazon is positioning that connection between viewing and playing as part of a larger entertainment experience.

This also makes Fire TV more than a streaming video device for eligible households. It becomes an entry point for cloud gaming without requiring a console or gaming computer in the room.

The hardware still acts as the display and input connection rather than running a full local game installation. The game itself is streamed, just as a movie or show is streamed, while the player’s controller or phone sends input back to the service.

Availability is limited at launch

The initial rollout applies to Prime members using Fire TV in the US and UK.

Amazon has not announced a complete list of supported Fire TV models in the launch post. It also has not confirmed dates for other countries, television platforms, phones, or tablets.

The company says it will share more information about additional devices, countries, and games in the coming months. Until then, the new Games tab should not be treated as a worldwide Prime Video feature or as something available on every device that can run Prime Video.

TechRadar reports that Amazon sees Fire TV as the beginning of a wider plan to bring Luna to more places where Prime Video is available. That is a stated direction, not a confirmed rollout schedule.

This is an app and service rollout

The Luna integration should not be confused with the redesigned Fire TV interface or Amazon’s move to Vega OS on newer Fire TV Sticks.

Fire TV devices now span Android-based Fire OS and Amazon’s newer Vega OS. The new Games tab lives inside Prime Video and Amazon has not described it as an operating system migration or a new firmware branch.

That distinction matters for device history. A major new capability can arrive through an app and cloud service even when the underlying operating system and retail hardware remain the same.

The same separation applies to the existing Luna app. The Prime Video integration changes how people find and enter Luna, but it does not mean that Amazon has replaced every Luna interface or moved every subscription option into Prime Video.

What Fire TV owners should watch next

The first thing to watch is device availability. Amazon’s announcement names Fire TV broadly but does not provide a model-by-model compatibility table.

The second is regional expansion. The US and UK are the only launch countries named so far.

The third is how the library develops. Amazon is promising new games each month, but the value of the integration will depend on which titles remain included with Prime and which require Luna Premium.

For now, the confirmed change is clear. Prime members in the US and UK can begin finding and playing included Luna games from a dedicated Games tab inside Prime Video on Fire TV.

That gives Amazon’s cloud gaming service a much more prominent place on the television and turns Prime Video into a gateway for both watching and playing.
