Amazon's 2026 Fire TV List Now Spans Vega OS, Fire OS 14, and Fire OS 8

Amazon's current Fire TV device documentation lists new 2026 models across three software tracks: Vega OS 1.1, Fire OS 14, and Fire OS 8.

Amazon’s current Fire TV device documentation shows how split the 2026 Fire TV lineup has become.

The latest device-identification table lists the 2026 Fire TV Stick HD as a Vega OS 1.1 device, while several 2026 Fire TV smart TVs remain on Android-based Fire OS. Hisense U7, TCL QM64L Premium QD-Mini LED TV, and Onida 4K Smart Fire TV are listed with Android 14 and Fire OS 14. Amazon Ember Artline is listed with Android 11 and Fire OS 8.

That makes 2026 a mixed software year for Fire TV hardware, not a clean switch to one operating system.

The 2026 Fire TV software split

Amazon’s device table currently lists these 2026 models and software tracks:

  • Fire TV Stick HD: Vega OS 1.1
  • Amazon Ember Artline: Fire OS 8, based on Android 11
  • Hisense U7: Fire OS 14, based on Android 14
  • TCL QM64L Premium QD-Mini LED TV: Fire OS 14, based on Android 14
  • Onida 4K Smart Fire TV: Fire OS 14, based on Android 14

The difference matters because Fire TV is no longer a single software target. A new Fire TV Stick can be on Vega OS, while a new Fire TV smart TV can still be on Fire OS.

Fire TV Stick HD is the Vega branch

The Fire TV Stick HD listing shows build model AFTCL001 and Vega OS 1.1. Its hardware details include a MediaTek MT8698D processor, 4x Cortex-A55 CPU cores up to 1.7 GHz, ARM G310 V2 graphics, 1 GB of LPDDR4 memory, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C 2.0.

That is the second Fire TV Stick generation publicly documented on Vega OS after the 2025 Fire TV Stick 4K Select.

For buyers, the important visible difference is that Vega OS does not behave like the older Android-based Fire OS branch. For developers and device-history readers, the more important detail is that the OS family now has to be tracked separately from the Fire TV product name.

New smart TVs are still on Fire OS

The smart TV side looks different.

Amazon’s table lists Hisense U7, TCL QM64L Premium QD-Mini LED TV, and Onida 4K Smart Fire TV as Fire OS 14 devices based on Android 14. Amazon Ember Artline, which started shipping in April and May 2026 depending on region, is listed as Fire OS 8 based on Android 11.

That means a 2026 Fire TV model name does not automatically tell you whether the device runs Vega OS, Fire OS 14, or Fire OS 8.

Product year is not enough anymore

The 2026 listings show why product year alone is becoming less useful.

A 2026 Fire TV Stick HD and a 2026 Hisense U7 both belong to the Fire TV family, but they sit on different software branches. One is Vega OS. The other is Fire OS 14. Amazon Ember Artline adds a third current branch with Fire OS 8.

That can affect app packaging, developer tooling, sideloading behavior, debugging, Android API assumptions, and long-term update history.

What changed

Amazon’s current documentation makes the 2026 Fire TV software split clear.

The newest Fire TV Stick is on Vega OS. Several new Fire TV smart TVs are on Fire OS 14. Amazon’s new lifestyle TV is on Fire OS 8.

For anyone following Fire TV hardware, the main news is simple: a current Fire TV device can no longer be described accurately by product name or release year alone. The software branch is now part of the story.
